Piano I-II Department
Piano I and II Course Description
Piano I
Grade: 9-12
Fee: $40
This is beginner piano for the student who has no previous instruction. The student receives
class and individual instruction in keyboard skills through learning pieces, basic music theory,
and music history. Due to virtual and hybrid learning, a keyboard is required at home.
A keyboard/piano at home is suggested but not required in the case of all Baton Rouge Magnet students are face to face.
Piano II
Grade: 9-12
Fee: $40
Prerequisite: Studio Piano I or has studied piano for one and a half years and teacher approval.
(Audition Only)
In addition to keyboard instruction, the course will include intermediate music theory and history.
Students will perform for peers throughout the year. A keyboard/piano at home is required.
Regular practice outside of class is required.

3. Submit videos via attaching to the contact info form, youtube link, or
emailing to eball@ebrschools.org.
Playing Requirements for video audition:
1. Submit a video of you playing 1 piece that shows your musical and
technical ability. Your piece does not need to be memorized.
2. Submit a video of 1 scale. Preferable the scale with the most sharps or
flats that you have learned, if any.
*Please state your name at the beginning of the videos.

Note: Students currently enrolled at Baton Rouge High will be accommodated first.
