Piano III-V Course Description
STUDIO PIANO III Grades: 9-12 Prerequisite: Studio Piano II or has studied piano for at least two years and teacher approval (audition only) Fee: $40 Each student will receive individual instruction, and the course will include the continued study of music theory, aural and technical skills and history. Students will be required to perform in piano department recitals, and additional performance opportunities in the community, will be provided. Regular practice outside of class is required.
STUDIO PIANO IV Grades: 9-12 Prerequisite: Teacher approval (audition only) Fee: $40 Intended for serious high school music students thinking of majoring or minoring in music, this course is directed toward developing competencies and understandings that will contribute to the goal of becoming a better pianist, teacher and musician. Open to advanced piano students who have completed Studio Piano III.
STUDIO PIANO V Grades: 9-12 Prerequisite: Teacher approval (audition only) Fee: $40 Intended for serious high school music students. This course is directed toward developing competencies and understandings that will contribute to the goal of becoming a better pianist. Open to advanced piano students who have completed Studio
Piano IV or exhibit exceptional talent.
TALENTED PIANO: Current talented evaluation required. The talented curriculum is geared towards pianists with an interest in contemporary piano skills.
Students in Talented Piano will learn a wide variety of piano skills including classical, jazz, blues, latin, pop, gospel, etc. Students who show an interest, will learn to read lead sheets and improvise over various forms of music.
Fee: $40 Per Year
*Students enrolled in Talented Music I-IV will be instructed and graded by both a Talented and Regular Music Teacher
