Talented Art Courses

TALENTED ART I Prerequisite: current talented evaluation required Fee: $70 This course is based on studying observational methods and an introduction to various 2-D and 3-D media. Students will develop a portfolio for 2-D and 3-D art throughout the year. Critical, historical, and aesthetic thinking will be covered through hands-on activities.

TALENTED ART II Prerequisite: Talented Art I and current talented evaluation required Fee: $70 This is a Talented Visual Art course, part of the Gifted and Talented Program at East Baton Rouge Parish School Board. This is a concentrated and accelerated course for advanced students. This is an ideal course for students who want to attend Art Institutes and universities who have strong art programs. This course is designed to improve the student’s individual artistic skills and creativity. TVA II students will be beginning to build their portfolio building their observational and creative skills and begin to explore their “inner artistic voice.” They will be working with various two-dimensional and three dimensional media.

TALENTED ART III Prerequisite: Talented Art II and current talented evaluation required Fee: $70 In this course students continue to emphasize observation, but they should begin developing a style that best expresses ideas and concepts. Students will begin to develop a portfolio which displays strong observational and perceptual skills as well as good knowledge and use of different types of media and / or approaches toward creating successful art works. In this year, if a student plans to attend an art institute or to major in art at the college level, he or she must begin a body of work that suits portfolio requirements given by these institutions. This work will continue into the senior year in preparation for submitting into art institutions, universities, and colleges. Students should keep in mind that most reputable art schools want to view 20 – 24 art works for portfolio submission.

TALENTED ART IV Prerequisite: Talented Art IV and current talented evaluation required Fee: $70.00 This is a Talented Visual Art course, part of the Gifted and Talented Program at East Baton Rouge Parish School Board. This is a concentrated and accelerated course for advanced students. This is an ideal course for students who want to attend Art Institutes and universities who have highly respected art programs. This course is designed to improve the student’s individual artistic skills and creativity. TVA IV students will continue to develop a portfolio by which it displays strong observational and perceptual skills as well as good knowledge and use of different types of media and/or approaches toward creating art works. TVA IV students will embark on critical thinking and complex concepts concerning contemporary art trends and practices. They will be working through problems that could arise when working with their portfolios.
